GMUHS Boys Varsity Take Josh Cole By Storm

Written by Philip Malazarte

The GM Boys Varsity Team have always been a force to be reckoned with. With the addition of new players, and others either graduating or quitting, the team is never quite the same each year.

Last year’s team was different from this year, and this year’s team is sure to be different next year. The current team is no exception, they have different players, they have a different coach. Yet in some ways they’re similar to those past teams. When they hoisted that trophy above their heads, they unknowingly held a little piece of history. They didn’t realize that so many teams, both from GM and from other schools, had done the same before. That rush they felt, the adrenaline that coursed through their veins as they rocketed towards the ball, that’s something that someone had felt before them.

Everett Mosher, a sophomore player, said,“ When I score those goals, I like to celebrate with my team.” The feeling someone experiences when that ball crashes into the net, it’s impossible to put into words. In fact, when the boys score goals, most of what you hear is incoherent screaming as they beat their chests and jump around, and I think the same can be said for the girls.

But the thing is, they celebrate with their team. You don’t see a player run off after they score a goal. Most of the time they run full tilt towards their teammates. The team may not be the same team from 10 years ago, we may not have the same players, but we have new ones. Elias Stowell-Aleman, a sophomore captain, said, “We have a young team. Which means we have time to develop.” With the addition of new players, and the return of old ones, this team is set to have an interesting year.
