Yes, it’s that time of year again when families come together for laughter
presents, and food for christmas time (Well at least most years). But some families don’t
celebrate Christmas, some families celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Boxing day.
Hanukkah is also known as the festival of lights. This eight-day holiday is
celebrated by Jewish people. For Hanukkah you light a candle on the menorah for each
of the eight nights.
Kwanzaa is a holiday that is celebrated differently, in different families, but there
is usually song and dance. Kwanzaa is a seven-night holiday with a Kinara which is
similar to a menorah but it has 7 candles that are green, red, and black.
Boxing day is celebrated in only a few countries like the United Kingdom,
Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and several others. In England they have soccer
games and horse races. In the Bahamas they celebrate boxing day by having a street
parade and a festival called Junkanoo.
