Teens throughout history have found it difficult to keep track of their belongings, and misplace them more often than not. We’ve all been there, you’re rushing to school, you get on the buss and when you go into your backpack to find your water bottle, it’s not there. Here are some tips to help you keep track of your things.
1)Have a Home For Everything:
You are a lot more likely to remember to bring your water bottle to school if it is always next to the door. It is also harder to misplace something if it has a pace for it to go.
2)Make Reminders:
If you have a little note on your backpack or your shoes that says “Lunch box” you would be reminded of what you need. This could also be in the form of a checklist.
3)Routine:
Having a routine in the mornings can make it easier to remember to pack everything into your backpack. This is also much easier if everything has a home.
4)Use Color:
This article, about teens remembering their things, claims that “ Research supports the use of color to help with attention, and if [somthing] does get lost its color may make it easier to identify in the lost and found.” Basically if you like the color of your belongings you are less likely to lose it. This could also be applied to customizing/painting your belonging.
5)Easy Access:
If you take something with you every day try to make it easier to reach a keep in your line of sight. Like having your wallet in the counter or your water bottle next to your bed.
6)Make a Schedule:
When your rushing in the morning things might slip your mind, making a simple schedule could help.
7)Keep a Clean Space:
This is one of the harder tips, but it is also one of the more useful ones, having a clean space can make it easier to organize and find things. While a messy space might seem to make it easier to find things, they are most of the time on the floor and might get stepped on/broken.
