The Beauty in Rain

Rosie Saccardo

As the sapphire sky sobs,

a gorgeous symphony

Patters on their bedroom windows.

The water droplets smear across

the glass like diluted honey.

If they concentrated, they might see

the frantic forest whisper

to the creatures to find shelter

underneath the draping greenery.

The moon’s light shines through

the heaven’s joyful tears

creating diamonds.

The rhinestones clatter on the ground

grouping together

forming pools for the forest to drink from.

The air becomes brisk

and the mist wraps around

the outlines of trees, gravel, and

dwellings that shelter the spectators.

They are unfazed by the downpour

and too detached and oblivious

to see the beauty in the rain.
