As the 2019 school year winds to an end, upperclassmen students find themselves overwhelmed with SAT testing, AP exams, and for some the challenge of making a college decision. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel- the junior prom! On May 18th, 2019, students will attend a night of dancing at the Okemo Base Lodge, transformed into an elegant ball from the roaring 1920’s. The night will begin with grand march at 6:30, in which students and their dates can show off their fabulous attire! Then, from 7:00-10:30, the room will be alive with DJ’d music, appetizers, and sweet treats.
While the night of prom will allow students to momentarily let go of their stress, a small group has been working for the past year with the additional pressure of ensuring this night goes smoothly. The prom committee consists of 7 students, led by junior class advisors Brett Mastrangelo and Rebecca Bushey. The two explained that although prom was certainly a large undertaking, they were excited to assist students in a project they were passionate about. Mrs. Bushey reflected, “prom has been a smooth trip. The Prom Committee chose to show up each week, do the legwork to make things happen, compromise with each other to make decisions and take an active role in preparing for prom. We are ready for prom, excited about the vision and prepared to make it memorable. The process has been lengthy but not tedious.” Now, it is time to relax, and look forward to a night of lifelong memories!
