Middle Schoolers Have a Promising Start to Their Season

by Riley Medina

The Green Mountain Middle School Girls' soccer team has had an exciting start to their season, with two winning home games (Keene 5-0, and Springfield 3-1) under the leadership of Andy Levesque — food supervisor by day and soccer strategist by night.

Amidst many new faces, resident players such as Izzy Gibson (#2) and Hadley Cenate (#5) have demonstrated their offensive chops these past few weeks, with impressive footwork, speed, and confidence, as they braved goal after goal on the field.

Eighth-grader Evie Meyer remained cool, calm, and collected in the net and held fast against opposing teams, all while cheering her team to victory. Often throughout a game, Evie could be heard shouting a cheerful “Good work guys” or a “Mark up!”, setting a stellar example of sportsmanship for all those in attendance. Down four players, Green Mountain played against Floodbrook on September 20th (1-5), and Evie was certainly the MVP. As a goalie, Evie maintained a strong presence on the field and led her team from net to net. Cadence Paul returned to defense for the game after sustaining a foot injury during the match against Springfield, and came back stronger than ever, proving to be one of our most powerful defenders.

As the season continues, the girls continue to train and improve their game and intend to play against Keene and Claremont before the start of October.
