Green Mountain's 2018 fall production of Dracula captivated a large audience Friday November 2nd and Monday November 5th.
Directed by Christine Saul, the cast has been rehearsing for months in order to memorize lines and perfect English accents.
When asked why she chose the play Dracula, Ms. Saul explained that "I wanted to do something that was more familiar to capture the audience's attention... [and] a combination of drama and comedy, which Dracula ended up being." As a vampire drama, the play was well timed with the Halloween season, and many students were excited to see their classmates playing such drastically different roles.
Among those students was junior Toby Charlton, playing the lead Dracula. This was Toby's first time performing onstage, however, he acted with confidence and truly portrayed Dracula's haunting character. The audience was blown away by the show, and when asked how the student feedback felt, Toby responded "when people learned that I was Dracula, it went all over the school... it felt amazing, everybody was so supportive."
The cast proved their professionalism and flexibility on Saturday night, when just before show time, the school (and surrounding town/s) experienced a power outage. Not letting this stand in the way of a final performance, the show was postponed until Monday, when again they wowed a large audience with their impressive theatrics.
Moving from one production to the next, the spring musical has been announced as Beauty and the Beast! Ms.Saul urged all interested to audition, as it is a large cast and guaranteed to be a fun show!
