Everyone loves to see crazy article headlines of dumb things that happen in Floridia. Because of this demand, I have taken it upon myself to provide you with the weirdest Florida Man stories that happen this month from 2015 to 2019. These articles contain very weird stories, so reader discretion is advised.
October 11th, 2015, in Palm Beach, the article, Florida man arrested for throwing alligator through drive-thru window, was written by Fox News. 24 year old Joshua James was charged with assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill for throwing a 3.5 foot long alligator into a Wendy’s drive-thru window. The drive-thru worker handed the man his drink and, in response, got an alligator thrown at him. Joshua James was court ordered to never go near another Wendys ever again, and he could never possess another animal other than his mother’s dog. An article about the same story written by The Washington Post, goes into detail on a reason why he through the alligator. Statements made by James’ family claim that he did it as a prank to a worker there that he knew. In this article a video about the situation is linked, and worth watching.
October 17th, 2016, in Miami, an article titled, Florida man with ‘half a head’ arrested on attempted murder, arson charges, was written by Global news. In this story 31 year old Carlos Rodriguez was arrested by Miami police for arson and first degree murder charges. Rodriguez has a severely disformed skull, making the top of his head pushed down, causing his head to be half the height of a normal skull.
October 10th, 2017, in Vero Beach the article, Florida man suffers burns putting on flaming jersey, was written by Troy Sepion on Local 10. Reports state the 27 year old Timothy Silyers, and 22 year old Brianna Hook, made a bet on an upcoming football game. The bet was that the winner would burn the losers team jersey. Silyers’ team lost, and his jersey was set on fire. After the jersey was lit on fire, the intoxicated Silyers put the flaming jacket back on. Silyers was brought to the hospital and received second degree burns to his back, and third degree burns to his right arm.
October 31th, 2018, in Volusia County, the article Florida man gets stuck after climbing down 30-foot well ‘for bragging rights’, was written by Ezzy Castro on ClickOrlando.com. In this story an unnamed 18 year old climbed down a well for bragging rights from his friends. The man made it all the way down but couldn’t get out. Police reports state that the friends of the man in the well first tried to pull the man out with a rope attached to an SUV. They then called 911 and the rescue team was able to get the man out. In this article the body cam footage of the officers, and the original 911 call are shown, and can be watched. I highly recommend seeing this first hand.
October 29th, 2019, at New Smyrna Beach, the article A Florida man jumped off his surfboard and landed on a shark, was written by Alaa Elassar on CNN. In this story, 32 year old Stephen Michelena was surfing in four feet of water and jumped off his board and, as the title says, landed on a shark. The shark bit his leg once before swimming away. Channelling his ultimate Florida man, Michelena refused to be brought to the hospital, and was treated for his wounds on the beach.
